SUMMARY: Aim: The aim of the article was to indicate desirable directions for the educational development and employment of persons serving prison sentences.In this context, the following research questions were posed: What is the penitentiary system and what elements does it consist of? How is the sentence served? What education and employment opportunities are available in the Polish penitentiary system? What modifications are possible in terms of the solutions used and what can be introduced? Methods: The article uses the method of analysis and synthesis of professional literature, the monographic-descriptive method and statistical data an analysis and criticism of the literature, examination of source documents, and a diagnostic survey in the form of expert interview.Results: The penitentiary system is subject to constant change. There is a shift away from oppression towards the humane treatment of prisoners. In the area under discussion, i.e., education and employment, it is possible to introduce changes based on the experiences of other countries as well as available research.Conclusion: The education and employment of prisoners are an important part of preparing them for freedom. In order to prepare them properly, it is worth taking on challenges and introducing new solutions or changing existing ones. Education and employment opportunities should be adapted to real needs.Originality: In times of change, it is worth supplementing existing solutions in the field of education and teaching of prisoners with new elements. Introduce the obligation to undertake daily activities, expand the range of education on offer, establish the role of an educator responsible for the education of prisoners, and conclude agreements with academic institutions. In addition, use new technologies in the education process and apply e-learning.Keyword: work, education, penitentiary system, prisoners
STRESZCZENIE:
Cel: Celem artykułu było wskazanie pożądanych kierunków rozwoju edukacyjnego oraz zatrudnienia osób odbywających karę więzienia.
W tym kontekście postawiono pytania badawcze: czym jest system penitencjarny i jakie elementy się na niego składają? Jak przebiega odbywanie kary? Jakie możliwości kształcenia i zatrudnienia mają osadzeni w polskim systemie penitencjarnym? Jakie są możliwe modyfikacje w zakresie stosowanych rozwiązań i co można wprowadzić?
Metody: W artykule wykorzystane zostały analiza i krytyka piśmiennictwa, badanie dokumentów źródłowych, sondaż diagnostyczny w formie wywiadu eksperckiego.
Wyniki: system penitencjarny podlega ciągłym zmianom. Odchodzi się od opresyjności na rzecz humanitarnego traktowania osadzonych. W omawianym obszarze a więc kształcenia i zatrudnienia możliwe jest wprowadzenie zmian w oparciu o doświadczenia innych krajów jak również dostępne badania.
Zakończenie: Nauczanie i zatrudnienie skazanych stanowią ważny element przygotowania ich do wolności. Aby ich do niej właściwie przygotować warto podejmować wyzwania i wprowadzać nowe rozwiązania lub zmieniać już istniejące. Dostosować kształcenie i możliwości pracy do rzeczywistych potrzeb i wymogów rynku pracy.
Oryginalność: W czasach zachodzących zmian warto uzupełnić już istniejące rozwiązania w zakresie kształcenia i zatrudnienia osadzonych o nowe elementy. Wprowadzić obowiązek podjęcia dziennej aktywności, rozszerzyć ofertę kształcenia, powołać funkcje wychowawcy zajmującego się edukacją osadzonych, zawierać umowy z jednostkami akademickimi. Ponadto wykorzystywać w procesie kształcenia nowe technologie, stosować e-learning.
