SUMMARY:
Aim: The aim of this article is to provide a better understanding of the problems faced by children, adolescents, and young adults in today’s world, with a particular focus on depressive disorders affecting this group.
Methods: A review of the scientific literature on depressive disorders among children, adolescents, and young adults in Poland, including a statistical analysis of suicides based on data from the Polish Police (Komenda Główna Policji) for the years 2017–2024.
Results: Attention was given to the data published on the official website of the Polish Police, concerning the total number of suicides in the population, as well as the distribution of suicides by sex and age group. Particular emphasis was placed on children, adolescents, and young adults whose suicides were attributed to mental disorders or psychiatric illness.

Oryginality: This text attempts to shed light on the issue of depressive disorders among children, adolescents, and young adults in contemporary Poland. The study constitutes a synthesis of professional literature and statistical analyses of suicides, while also highlighting the growing prevalence of this mental health disorder in the young population.

STRESZCZENIE:
Cel: Lepsze poznanie problemów dzieci i młodzieży oraz młodych dorosłych w obecnym świecie. Przybliżenie i pochylenie się nad zaburzeniami depresyjnymi tej grupy osób.
Metody: Przegląd literatury naukowej dotyczącej zaburzeń depresyjnych dzieci, młodzieży i młodych dorosłych w Polsce z uwzględnieniem statystycznej analizy samobójstw na podstawie danych Komendy Głównej Policji na przestrzeni lat 2017-2024.
Wyniki: Zwrócono uwagę na dane opublikowane na stronie internetowej Komendy Głównej Policji w Polsce, które dotyczą liczby samobójstw ogólnie w populacji oraz liczby samobójstw w zależności od płci oraz grupy wiekowej, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem dzieci, młodzieży oraz młodych dorosłych, których przyczyną były zaburzenia psychiczne lub choroba psychiczna.
Zakończenie: Wnioski płynące z krótkiego przeglądu literatury wskazują na istotny problem zaburzeń sfery psychicznej dzieci, młodzieży oraz osób wchodzących w samodzielne i dorosłe życie. Spadek liczby samobójstw zdaje się być konsekwencją zdjęcia stygmatyzacji z osób chorujących psychicznie.
Oryginalność: Tekst stanowi próbę naświetlania problemu zaburzeń depresyjnych u dzieci, młodzieży i młodych dorosłych w obecnych realiach Polski. Opracowanie stanowi syntezę literatury fachowej oraz opracowań statystycznych samobójstw, dodatkowo zwraca uwagę na narastający problem tego zaburzenia psychicznego w młodej populacji.
